A standard hive typically consists of a hive body, brood frames, a cover, and a bottom board, with dimensions designed to match the frame specifications. Taking the common 10-frame Langstroth hive as an example, the internal dimensions are generally around 465 mm in length, 380 mm in width, and 245 mm in height. It accommodates ten standard frames, making it suitable for the daily brood rearing and production management of most colonies.
Specifications also vary based on the intended use. For instance, small hives are compact, facilitating home-based beekeeping and mobile management, whereas large hives offer greater internal space to meet the needs of prolific colonies and large-scale operations.
